Dear Warsaw Community,

The Board of Trustees at Warsaw Public Library is always working to improve our services and provide the best facilities possible in our historic Carnegie library building. We have recently instituted measures to reassure our community of our commitment to providing as safe a library as possible. We have established newly locked interior doors, expanded outdoor lighting, video surveillance cameras, expanded Internet filtering and an updated patron conduct policy.

Warsaw Public Library is more heavily used and pertinent today than ever before. Record numbers of area residents are turning to Warsaw Public Library to meet their information and recreation needs. The demands on our materials collection and service offerings continue to grow. Last year the library served over 25,000 visitors. In 2008 and 2009 circulation of materials was up 20% and may rise even higher by the end of 2010. Patrons checked out over 63,000 items in 2009, with over 8,000 of those items loaned from the other 41 public libraries in the Pioneer Library System. Our public computers and WIFI were used over 6,500 times in 2009 and by the end of November this year these services were used 6754 times.

Warsaw Public Library provides free access to the Internet because so much current information is found online. Computers in Warsaw Public Library are an important tool connecting people from all walks of life to information, knowledge, and opportunities. From filling out job applications to searching for tax forms, to paying bills, to looking up health information and so much more, the role Warsaw Public Library Internet access plays in workforce development, education and wellness is an incredible benefit to our community.

We invite you to utilize the many resources at Warsaw Public Library. If you are interested in keeping up with the policy and other changes at the library, visit us or go to http://warsawpubliclibraryhome.blogspot.com/. In December, each time you come in the library you can enter our free drawing for one of four holiday tote bags.

“Perhaps no place in any community is so totally democratic as the town library. The only entrance requirement is interest.” ~Lady Bird Johnson

Sincerely,

Warsaw Public Library Board of Trustees
