E-Books Night

Thursday May 5th at 7:00pm

Join Librarian Barbara Henry for the lowdown on Nooks, Kindles, and the like. If you have an e-reader or are thinking of getting one, learn about downloading free books on the web and library books at this informative fun program.

Workshop Description: This introductory workshop is for anyone thinking of getting into electronic digital eBooks or buying an eReader device. Also welcome are those who already own an eReader (Nook, Sony, Kindle, etc.) or are using an iPad, iPhone or similar device to do their reading. They may bring their devices for show and tell. The workshop is presented in a Q&A format. Topics include, but are not limited to: What is an eBook? What are the pros and cons? What equipment is needed? Where can you get eBooks? What is an eReader? How to choose an eReader? Can you borrow eBooks from the library? Will eBooks eliminate printed books & libraries? The workshop includes: handouts, a free digital textbook, and take home lab. A Barnes & Noble nook eReader (and possibly others) will be demonstrated. Note: this is not an OWWL2go - OverDrive class. However, OWWL2go is referred to as a source of eBooks and basic information will be provided.

Presenter: Barbara Henry is a retired professional adult services librarian. Since 1995, she has been on a mission to help people achieve digital literacy in public library settings. She is an enthusiastic user of eBooks.
